Single-wall or double-wall glass?
Single-wall glass mugs are the classic: thin, light, and completely transparent, which is why they suit layered lattes and loose-leaf tea. They also get hot to hold and lose heat quickly, so they come with a handle for a reason and suit drinks you finish reasonably fast. Look for borosilicate glass rather than ordinary soda-lime — it tolerates sudden temperature changes far better, which matters the first time you pour boiling water into a cold mug.
Double-walled glass mugs put a layer of air between two thin skins. The drink appears to float, the outside stays comfortable to hold, and heat retention is noticeably better than single wall. The trade-offs are cost, fragility at the seal, and the fact that they are almost always hand-wash only. If you want the look of glass with something closer to the practicality of ceramic, this is the compromise.
Glass is the most honest mug material: it shows you exactly how clean it is, it holds no flavor at all, and it works equally well for hot and iced drinks. It is also the least forgiving of being knocked against a tap. Keep glass mugs away from the crowded end of the dish rack and check the product page for whether yours is dishwasher safe — many single-wall designs are, most double-wall ones are not.

Can you put boiling water in a glass mug?
In borosilicate glass, yes — it is designed for thermal shock. With ordinary glass, warm the mug with hot tap water first. Never pour boiling water into a glass mug taken straight from the fridge or freezer.
